If you don't see your favorite free Mac app on this list, please add it in the comments section with your reason for why it stands out (Remember: It has to be truly free, or the free version of an otherwise premium app that is noteworthy.)Īugust 2019: Removed apps that are no longer free or available. In researching the best free apps for the Mac, I started by using Apple's category list. There are just too many free apps available for the Mac to include everything. Though this list is long, it is by no means complete. WeatherBug Lite is the perfect little at-a-glance weather app because it's always on. If you really want to get into the nitty-gritty, click on a stat to open WeatherBug on the web, where you can find out about windshield, sunrise, rainfall, and more. If you want more information, you can click on the Menu bar widget to get an hourly forecast and a current weather radar. It is a Menu bar app that always shows the current temperature and weather condition. If you just want a quick glance at the current temperature, WeatherBug Lite is just what you need. There are just too many free Mac apps available to include everything. That's because some of the best apps in a given category are so much better than any Mac App Store counterpart that I couldn't exclude them. I've included some apps that are not available in the Mac App Store. I'm usually not a conspiracy theorist guy, but really makes me wonder if this is planned to get users of old models to upgrade. and the SE has A9 chip, which is same chip as the '6' line. Scrambling to try to downgrade back to 11.4 or 11.3.x but worried I might brick it. By the time I arrived at destination, using GPS/Maps had drained battery to 15% IN THIRTY MINUTES. Drive took maybe 30 minutes, did not have it plugged in, started at 95%. Once time in the car, I had to use Maps to get somewhere. I had no battery issues with 11.4, after upgrading to 11.4.1, my battery will drain from 100% to below 30% over the course of 4 hours doing nothing but sitting on the desk, no phone calls, no browsing. For some it has for me the OPPOSITE HAS HAPPENED. Many folks reported severe battery drain with 11.4, which the new release 11.4.1 was supposed to address.
